We will continue with our study of "How things grow" on Monday, and probably finish on Friday. Units are difficult to complete now because of schedule changes, vacations, and absentees.
Last week was wonderful, we really enjoyed the weather! We started the week by visiting the beach, and feeding the ducks! Everyone enjoyed themselves, however, we were a might tired by the time we returned!!
Our science project for the week was learning how plants drink. The children placed celery stalks in water. They then added food coloring. We left the stalks overnight. I asked the children what they thought would happen. Almost all of them said that the stalks would change color......smart group! We found there was better success with the dark colors. The leaves, and veins in the stalk "drank" the food dye. The children were really excited about their project. There was much discussion at the lunch table!
